Mechatronics Engineer
Job overview
We are seeking a hands-on and innovative Mechatronics Engineer to contribute to the development and optimization of our revolutionary printing equipment. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in integrating mechanical, electronic, and control systems to ensure the seamless operation of our LIFT (Laser-Induced Forward Transfer) technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-On Mentality: Take a hands-on approach to prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring the successful implementation of mechatronic systems
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, and Researchers, to achieve seamless integration of mechatronic components
- Control System Design: Contribute to the design and implementation of control systems, ensuring precision and reliability in the printing process | Apply model-based design by iteration loops from CAD to FEA to actual measurements
- System Integration: Support the integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems to create a cohesive and efficient printing equipment system | Knowledge and experience on mechatronic systems essential (actuators, sensors, calibration, system functionality software)
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of a mechatronic system and its modules, ensuring they meet quality and performance requirements | This also requires strong problem-solving skills in addressing any deviations from the requirements
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in mechatronic systems, and implement enhancements to optimize performance and efficiency
- Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve any hardware or software related issues | 2nd line support to Service and Operations teams including our system supplier(s)
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, assembly instructions, and technical/test reports



Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in mechatronic system design and integration, preferably in the printing or precision equipment industry
- Hands-on mentality with the ability to prototype and troubleshoot effectively
- Proficiency in machine dynamics and control system design and implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic scale-up environment
Highly valued additional qualifications include:
- Experience in running through the full high-tech development V-cycle
- Familiarity with laser-based technologies
- Experience with automation and robotics
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
- Familiarity with CAD software for system design
- Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT3 and Python coding
