Researcher
Job overview
The Researcher strengthens the theoretical foundation of Keiron’s process development by conducting fundamental and applied research on Laser-Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT). You design structured experiments, analyse process sensitivities, and translate results into scientific understanding. By connecting experimental findings to physics, competitor insights, and customer needs, you help develop robust and repeatable processes.
Responsibilities
-
Conduct fundamental and applied research on the Laser-Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) process.
-
Design and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) studies to understand process parameter sensitivities, repeatability, and process windows.
-
Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory and process equipment used in experimental research.
-
Perform statistical data analysis and translate experimental results into clear scientific insights.
-
Develop theoretical and physical understanding of laser-material interactions and laser-induced deposition and transfer processes.
-
Investigate the behaviour of materials such as solder pastes, coatings, and substrates within the LIFT process.
-
Conduct literature and competitor research and connect findings to technical requirements and customer needs.
-
Produce clear technical documentation, research reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
-
Collaborate with Process Development, Engineering, Production, Lab, and Project Management, and share knowledge with junior researchers, lab technicians, and service colleagues.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Optics, Process Engineering, or a related technical field.
-
At least two years of relevant experience in experimental research or process development, with the ability to provide a strong theoretical foundation to the research team.
-
Strong understanding of laser-material interaction physics; experience with LIFT or other laser-based deposition processes is a plus.
-
Experience with DoE and statistical analysis using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Minitab, or JMP.
-
Hands-on experience with materials and laboratory equipment; printed electronics or microelectronics packaging knowledge is a plus.
-
Fluent English is required; Dutch is a plus.
Personal Skills
-
Structured, rigorous, and accurate, with a disciplined approach to experimental work and documentation.
-
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to connect experimental data to physical theory.
-
A proactive and clear communicator who is open to feedback and raises issues at an early stage.
-
Collaborative and willing to share knowledge, support colleagues, and consider different viewpoints.
-
Independent and accountable, with an entrepreneurial mindset and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Our mission: Why compromise?
Our mission is to achieve a zero-defect assembly line with unmatched efficiency, transforming electronics manufacturing through LIFT technology. By eliminating the limitations of traditional stencil and jet printing, we provide a fully digital, contactless, and high-precision solution that enhances quality, speed, and reliability.
