The Senior Mechanical Designer takes ownership of the mechanical design of our advanced printing equipment based on groundbreaking LIFT technology. Your experience and inspiration will set technical direction in the development team and ensure that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation. The Senior Mechanical Designer works closely within a multidisciplinary team according to the V-model approach to collaboratively secure that deliverables in the product creation process are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Project Ownership: Take ownership of system and module design and oversee project planning and execution in close alignment with System Architect and Project Manager; coach junior mechanical engineers.

  • Mechanical Design Direction: Drive the mechanical design process from concept to detailed engineering, ensuring precision, reliability, and scalability; establish and support the mechanical design way-of-working together with the engineering team

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with Software, Electrical, and Research teams to achieve seamless system integration; this includes collaboration with co-developers

  • Optimization & Innovation: Define and implement strategies for continuous improvement of existing systems, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability; this comprises of new (roadmap) developments and system improvement based on customer and field feedback (feature request and issue resolution)

  • Testing & Validation Oversight: Test and validate concept design and design analysis, guaranteeing compliance with performance and quality standards; foster a pragmatic approach in validating designs and prototypes to achieve fast progress and obtain early insights

  • Documentation & Standards: Ensure accurate, high-quality engineering documentation, design specifications, and technical reports, as deliverables in the V-model based development

  • Strategic Innovation: Anticipate industry trends and emerging technologies and translate them into tangible ideas to strengthen product development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar education

    10+ years of experience in mechanical development, with at least 3 years in a senior (leading or coordinating) role

  • Proven track record in developing complex mechanical systems, preferably in the printing, high-precision, or advanced equipment industry

  • Strong foundation in design principles or similar design methodologies

    Proficiency with SolidWorks (PDM, 3D modeling, simulation and detailed 2D drawings)

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and align diverse teams  

 

Highly valued additional qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with laser-based technologies

  • Knowledge of automation and control systems

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
